Terms and conditions

The rules for using glyf.

The short version: glyf is free, it runs entirely on your device, and what you make is yours. Use it lawfully, respect other people's rights, and understand that a free tool comes without guarantees.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using glyf — this website, the studio at /studio and the glyf app for Android, all made by Rojab Khan — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. How we handle your data is covered separately in the privacy policy.

2. The service

glyf is a free tool for turning images, video, shaders and gradients into text and pattern art. There is no account, no subscription and no payment. Everything is processed by code running on your own device: in your browser on the website, and inside the app on Android.

We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering glyf, at any time. Because it's free, we can't promise it will always be available or work in every browser or on every device.

3. Your content

The images and videos you open stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to us, so we never receive, store or claim any rights to them.

You're responsible for having the right to use whatever you convert. Don't use material you don't own or have permission to use, and take care with pictures of other people.

If you believe something published on this website — a sample image, an example or any text — uses your work without permission, email irojabkhan@gmail.com and we'll review it promptly.

4. What you make is yours

Artwork you create and export with glyf — images, SVG, text, GIF and video — belongs to you, as far as the source material allows. You can use it for any purpose, including commercial work, without crediting glyf (though we're always glad when you do).

The sample photos and footage in the studio's library are there so you can try the studio. They belong to their original creators, and many come from photo sites such as Unsplash and Pexels under those sites' own licences. Check the original licence before using a sample in published or commercial work, or use your own images. If you're the creator of a sample and want it credited or removed, email irojabkhan@gmail.com.

5. Acceptable use

Please don't use glyf to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone else's rights, including copyright and privacy;
  • create content that harasses, threatens or exploits other people;
  • disrupt, overload or attack this website or the service it runs on.

6. Saved recipes and edits

Recipes you save on the website live only in your browser's storage, and edits and looks in the Android app live only in the app's storage on your phone. We can't see, back up or recover them: they disappear if you clear your site data, clear the app's storage, uninstall the app, or switch browsers or devices. Export anything you want to keep.

7. glyf's own material

The glyf name, logo, website design, text and code remain ours (or our licensors'). Using the service doesn't give you any rights to them beyond using glyf as intended — this is separate from the artwork you make, which is yours.

8. Links to other sites

Some pages link to other websites, such as the sources on our comparison pages. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or practices.

9. No warranty

glyf is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind — including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that exports will suit a particular purpose. Check your exports before relying on them.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, work or profit, arising from your use of glyf. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, and nothing here affects rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as glyf changes. When we do, the date below changes too. Continuing to use glyf after an update means you accept the new terms.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms, takedown requests or anything else: irojabkhan@gmail.com.
