Film halation effect
A wide, warm-red glow around the brightest parts, like film.

With Halation
How it works
Halation spreads a soft red-orange glow out from the brightest areas of the finished frame — the halo that forms when strong light bounces back through film. It reaches much further than Bloom and is tinted warm, so light sources and highlights seem to burn into the dark around them.
Effects apply to the finished frame, so Halation works with every style, and the Intensity slider sets how strong it is. It appears in PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and video exports; text and SVG exports contain the grid only.
Tips
- Best on night scenes and lit faces against the dark.
- Pairs with Film Grain for a cinematic print.
- Use it with Bloom: Bloom for the tight glow, Halation for the wide one.
